Angels

Today is a day that I will always hold close to my heart.  Let me give you a little history.

10 years ago in the summer, my parents told me that they were expecting a baby.  I was 14(almost 15)  and my brother was almost 20 at the time.  We were beyond shocked and excited.  I wanted a sibling for as long as I could remember. The day before my 15th birthday, we found out that my mama was having a baby boy.  We also found out that he would be born with a heart defect.  The doctors weren't too worried because of the technology they had for our situation.

On December 23rd, 2004 around 5:00am, my sweet baby brother was born.  He was perfect in my eyes.  They soon rushed him off to the NICU and that was the start to our new life.  After 2 heart surgeries and 36 days later, Brett passed away.  It was a hard time for my family but I knew that was a part of God's plan.  There have been many times where I have asked "Why? Why do you allow babies to be born and then to pass away so soon?"  The verse Job 1:21 has come to me many times regarding my questions.  Job 1:21- "Naked I came from my mother's womb and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."  Wow, that is one powerful verse.  We don't always understand why things happen the way they do but God has a reason for everything! God's plan is so much bigger than our own plans.  We have  to learn to trust him and know that God has our best interest in mind.

For those of you who may be hurting or questioning the things that have happened in your life, look to The Lord for comfort and peace.  There is no greater feeling than knowing that God has you in the palm of His hands and He will take care of you.  He never gives you more than you can handle.  Maybe one day, you can help someone who is going through the same storm you're in now.
As I sit here reading my family's CarePage, it brings back so many memories. Streams of emotion have overcome me this afternoon.  Please check out www.carepages.com and search for brettashtonmccrary.
